Members from No. 92 Wing, the Royal Australian Air Force's (RAAF) maritime patrol wing attended a memorial service for Catalina A24-6A, a 'Black Cat' maritime patrol aircraft of 43 Squadron RAAF which was lost during World War II. The aircraft and her crew were believed to be shot down by Japanese Forces in the vicinity of the Bataan peninsula during an operation to mine the mouth of Manila Bay on the night of 14 December 1944. The service was held at the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific in Baatan Provence, Republic of the Philippines during Exercise Balikatan 2016. Exercise Balikatan 2016, is a bilateral United States Pacific Command and the Armed Forces of the Philippines exercise, conducted in various locations across the Republic of the Philippines from 31 Mar – 18 Apr 16.
