Royal Australian Air Force personnel embedded at Train, Advise, Assist Command – Air (TAAC-Air) are helping develop Afghan Air Tactical Coordinators for the Afghan Air Force (AAF). Since September 2016, the NATO TAAC-Air team have graduated six courses including 26 AAF offices and 28 Afghan National Army officers. The newly graduated ATACs will deploy in support of Afghan National Defence and Security Forces operations – adding to AAF offensive capability. About 270 personnel from the Royal Australian Navy, the Australian Army, the Royal Australian Air Force and Defence civilians are deployed on Operation Highroad as part of Australia’s commitment to the NATO led Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan.
