Youth Indigenous Programme
Youth Indigenous Programme (0.42 mins)
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians experienced life in the Air Force during a three day Indigenous Youth Programme at RAAF Base Tindal, Northern Territory between 5-7 June 2018. Participants enjoyed a range of activities during the interactive programme including air traffic control, flightline operations, aircraft maintenance, military working dogs, ground defence training and other specialised aviation work areas. Participants also had the opportunity to talk with serving Air Force Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mentors. Air Force is committed to reconciliation and providing Indigenous Australians with employment opportunities as part of the Government’s Closing the Gap Strategy. The Air Force Indigenous Youth Programme is conducted four times a year at RAAF Bases across Australia. The programme is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women aged between 16-24 years.
